KORTRIJK 1302
In the Kortrijk 1302 visitor center you relive the Battle of the Golden Spurs. The public is immersed in the history of July 11, 1302 and the Franco-Flemish war of which the battle is part. The story of the Battle of the Golden Spurs has been told differently over the centuries. Whether July 11 may have become a symbol of Belgian identity and later of Flemish identity is a story apart. Kortrijk 1302 presents not only a historical event, but also how it was subsequently experienced and commemorated. Kortrijk 1302 is a museum of experience. It tells a unique story and invites the visitor to experience this story. Our collection is limited but captivating and contains unique pieces. Collectibles are used to the fullest, with replicas, model, reconstructions, pictures and films.
The presentation takes place in five main steps:
1. "About wars and many events"
2. "… and the Flemish people won the victory"
3. "Things and causes"
4. "A history dating back several centuries"
5. "The birth of a tradition"
