TEXTURE
The museum course has three 'rooms', one on each level of the building: the Wonder room, the Leie room and the Treasury.
The WONDER ROOM is a type of laboratory, a DIY-place, where you can interactively discover often overlooked applications of flax, its significance in today's world and its potential for the future.
In the LEIE ROOM on the first floor you travel back to the past. Here, the story of the Golden River is told.
With a selection of objects, work tools and machines from the collection, photos, film, animations, testimonials and interactive maps, the economic development of the region of Lys is displayed, with the flax industry as its driving force.
Lace and damask of Courtrai are presented in a contemporary exhibition on the 'Golden rooftop'. In this TREASURY the design focuses on the esthetical experience of selected items from our large collection.
At the moment there is the exhibition "Wit op Wit": Texture's collection project, with support from the Department of Culture, Youth & Media Flanders, with the aim of making the damask collection more accessible. You will discover some exclusive Kortrijk damask. Light artist Alexander Stragier developed a video-mapping installation to bring the motifs on the damask to life.

St. Martin's Church tower

*** Between 1st March and 1st June 2023 the St. Martin's Church tower is closed due to the breeding season of peregrine falcons. ***
St Martin's Church is a real eye-catcher right on the Grote Markt. Like a beacon, this heritage gem looks out over the city centre.
Its 83 metre high tower has proven to be the perfect place to admire the Kortrijk skyline from up high.
